Quad-helix (QH)
Quad Helix and expansion plate are used to widen the upper jaw and correct crossbites in children. Quad Helix is more cost-effective and can be fixed or removable. Treatment requires activation and retention for up to six months.

BACKGROUND
Quad Helix and expansion plate are two common appliances used to widen the maxilla and thereby correct crossbites in growing individuals (see Figure 1)(1-6). Treatment with Quad Helix has been shown in studies to be more cost-effective than with plates (7-8).
Quad Helix means that it has four helices (screw-like shape in three dimensions), where the forces of the appliance can be activated.
